Purchased this stand about a year ago and should have returned it but I didn't. This is a very wobbly stand and not sturdy enough to work safely with. The ridgid stand is much more solid, although heavy, but well worth the money. This stand is definitely not worth $219.The ridgid stand is on sale now for $99
Guess What. Just bought the Hitachi UU610 stand (Tracrac). Didn't think the wheel kit or the entension stop were necessary. Both add-ons are included in the box. Isn't life grand.
Has wheels so you can leave the saw on and transportdown side of it.1. very heavy. On the up side.1.This thing is solid. fairly heavy duty. May times while working I need to quickly slide the ext.
not so good for daily set up and brake down. It's an ok unit. fairly hard to get built - setup first time.(plan on a better part of a day)2. getting to the locks on the arms can be a pain if you have the ext set so the lock is under the saw. 10" slider stays in place.2.
can't leave extensions unlocked because they sag. Hard to find one on back.4. Good for Long term set up. arm in or out. The locking system is faster and safer than Dewalt's.
(lost a saw on Dewalts do to not fully locked in)3. when you unlock it the arm twists/sags so the material isn't flat.3. came with wheels but no handle (though a standard cabinet handle lines up, all I had to do was use a spacer so you can get your hand on it)to sum up.if you want light weight, fast, light, easy setup and brake down get the dewaltIf you want a nice stable shop stand that you can move if needed, If you can set up on a site in one place, get this.
The wheels are nice for rolling the stand into jobs. I've hauled a lot of saw stands into job sites. This is a third stand over the years for my business. The extension supports are just okay. Overall it is an excellently designed product. Nice design, good fit and finish, very sturdy. If anything could use a bit of a re-design Hitachi should start here. I could highly recommend purchasing this stand.
No worries about packaging and the components were in excellent shape. So, this should tell you how strong the stand is.I am a weekend hack and this stand is more than anything I will need but I hate buying junk and always try to the best I can afford. The assembly of the stand was almost complete except for the wheels and miter saw attachment. I torqued the stand a little too much when attaching the miter saw to the stand and broke the base of my saw. The wheels don't really come in handy because I disconnect the saw when transporting it (too awkward). Also, this stand looks exactly like the Bosch TracRac. If you can get a better deal on the Bosch, you are probably getting the same stand.I purchased the Hitachi UU610 for $149 @ Lowe's (They are discounted from $199).
